What do you do?
I am a volunteer at the 1st Muirhead Brownies and Guides, I’ve been helping there since 2023.
Why do you do it?
I first got involved because my granddaughters are at the 1st Muirhead groups and I knew they needed helpers. I was keen to volunteer because I used to be a Guide leader many years ago before I had children and I enjoyed it very much. Looking back, I wish I had never given it up!
What do you get out of it?
It is very satisfying to be able to help young people develop into the best they can be. I also get lots of fun out of learning new skills along with the girls and I love camping and the outdoors (even in the bad weather). Because I have been retired for many years, I feel I have a new lease of life being involved with the Guides and am fitter and healthier in mind and body.
What is your day job?
I am a retired Clerical Officer. I worked in the paediatric department in a large hospital. My day job nowadays is between leisure and being a granny.
