Over 300 young members of Girlguiding Dundee with their leaders came together to have an “Adventure on your Doorstep” in October 2024.
Adventure Team leader Ali Niven co-ordinated the day with her, and said "It was a really successful event and a good day. We had 300 girls from all sections doing lots of different activities. It's been months of hard work but it worth it. By the end of the day there were lots of smiles on tired faces."
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers tried their hands at cheerleading with Leisure and Sport Dundee, badminton with Nomads Badminton Club and Drumming, they explored outer space with Tayside Planetarium, got creative with Young Engineers, Lindabee Draws Dundee, Scrapantics, made music with FaceMusic. Ancrum Outdoor Centre provided their climbing wall and our own volunteers led soft archery and soft tomahawks sessions. Trefoil Guild members ran beetle drives with a variety of "beetles".
Girlguiding Dundee County Commissioner Amy Knighton said “Getting active in a fun way is so important for physical and mental health. The girls (and their leaders) are really looking forward to a day of fun, activity, laughter and friendship. We’d love to able to offer Girlguiding to more girls and young women locally, but to do that we need more volunteers to come forward.”
